This is because when you are away, the puppy gets stressed.
She looks for something to make her feel better.
She expends her stress energy by chewing where it smells like you.
She gets an extreme reward for herself each time she does this.
There is no way you can do anything after the fact to erase this.
Each time she is allowed to relieve her stress and anxiety this way, she is more likely to do it again the next time you go away.
Every time you leave.
While you are at home, supervise her absolutely and completely.
Distract her each time she looks at, sniffs, or puts her mouth on anything she should not have.
Put is someplace where it can stay fairly permanently.
For the first week or so, keep a jar of peanut butter or chez whiz nearby.
Twice a day, smear a tiny dab of this goody on each toy.
It does not require much.
Each time the puppy makes a mistake by looking at, sniffing, or putting her mouth on anything inappropriate, interrupt her, and take her immediately to the toy box.
Make sure each time she finds a toy with some of the good stuff on it.
I do not even start allowing puppies any unsupervised time in the house until they are past a year old.
Prevention is the name of the game.
